నేనండీ! అపస్వరాల ప్రోగ్రాం ఆర్జే అప్పారావు నండీ! ఈ రోజు కూడా సూర్యుడు తూర్పున్నే ఉదయించేశాడండీ! తూర్పంటే గుర్తొచ్చిందండీ! మా వూరు తూర్పు గోదావరి జిల్లాలో అంబాజీపేట అండీ! అమలాపురం పక్కనే వుంటుందండీ! ఇక ఇప్పుడీ పాట వినండీ!
ఆ అంటే అమలాపురం .........
నాకసలు ఈ ఆర్జే అవాలనే కోరికెలావోచ్చిందో చెప్పమంటారా? అదేదో రేడియో స్పందనలో మా ప్రక్కింటి అమ్మాయి సుష్మండీ, ప్రొద్దున్నే సుస్వరాలు అనే ప్రోగ్రాం చేస్తుందండీ. ఆ ప్రోగ్రాం విన్నాక, ఓస్ ఇంతేనా అన్పించిందండీ! ఏదైనా మాట్లాడవచ్చండీ! మధ్యమధ్యలో కాస్త పాటలు వేస్తుండాలి. అంతేనండీ! ఇప్పుడీ పాట వినండి.

శంకరాభరణం సినిమాలో మంజుభార్గవి గారు చాలా బాగా చేసారండీ! అయితే పాపం, ఆ తర్వాత ఆవిడకి కాబరే డాన్సుల చాన్సులు తగ్గిపోయాయండీ. ఏంచేస్తాం చెప్పుల సినిమాలో చిరంజీవి అంత బాగా చేస్తేనే ఆయన అభిమానులు ఒప్పుకోలేదు. ఇప్పుడీ పాట వేసుకుందాం రండి.

కోతులంటే గుర్తొచ్చిందండీ. ఆ మధ్య తిరుపతి వెళ్ళినప్పుడు కోతులసలు కనబడలేదండీ! వాకబు చేస్తే తెలిసిందేమంటే అన్ని కోతి పనులు మనుషులే చేస్తుంటే, మేమెందుకని కోతులన్నీ ఎక్కడికో వెళ్లి పోయాయటండీ! రండి. ఇదిగో ఓ మంచి పాట.

ఏంలేదు! రేడియో స్పందనలో ఆర్జే ఇంటర్వ్యు వచ్చింది. ప్రిపేరు అవుతున్నాను.
ఓస్! దానికేందుకమ్మ అంత శ్రమ. అసలు ప్రిపరేషను అంటూ టైం వేస్టు చేసుకోకమ్మా. జస్ట్ అలా వెళ్లి పో. నీకు తోచినట్లు మాట్లాడేయ్.
అదేంటి పిన్ని గారూ? అంత తేలిగ్గా చెప్పేస్తున్నారు.
సరే, నే చెప్పేది విను. ఇంటర్వ్యూలో ఎం చెయ్యాలో, ఎలా చెయ్యాలో నే చెబుతా విను. శంకరాభరణం, దసరా బుల్లోడు, మేఘసందేశం, దేవదాసు... సినిమాల పాటలు మళ్ళీ మళ్ళీ వేస్తుంటారు. నువ్వు పాటకూ, పాటకూ మధ్య తోచింది మాట్లాడు. శంకరాభరణంలో శంకరశాస్త్రిగారు కట్టుకున్న పొందూరు ధోవతి చూసి అప్పుడందరూ అవే ఎగబడి కొనుక్కున్నారని; మేఘసందేశంలో జయసుధగారి జాకెట్టు డిజైను చూసి అందరూ అలాంటివే కుట్టించుకున్నారని ...ఇలా నీకు తోచింది మాట్లాడేయ్.
ఇంకో సంగతి! ప్రతి రోజూ ఎవరిదో ఒకరి పుట్టిన రోజు అవుతుంది కాబట్టి నువ్వు పక్కింటి సుబ్బారావుకో, సుబ్బమ్మకో గంటకు నాలుగైదుసార్లు పుటిన రోజు శుభాకాంక్షలు చెప్పేస్తూ మధ్యలో సగం సగం పాటలు వేసేయ్! మళ్ళీ మళ్ళీ మిమిక్రీ ధ్వనులతో అరుస్తూ, కరుస్తూ మాట్లాడుతూ పాటలు పెట్టేయ్.
అదేంటి పిన్ని గారూ? వినేవాళ్ళకు బోరు కొట్టదా ఇలా ప్రోగ్రాములు చేస్తే?
ఓ విషయం చెప్పమంటావా తల్లీ, గత ఆరేడు నెలలుగా రేడియో స్పందనలో ప్రోగ్రాములు వినీ వినీ చాలా మంది నెత్తీ, నోరూ బాదుకున్నా వినే నాధుడు లేడమ్మా! అలాంటప్పుడు నీకెందుకే బోరూ, బాధలూ అంటూ. ఇక వెళ్ళు.

ఏమి చిత్రగుప్తా? ఈ మధ్య రోజూ భోజనానికి వెళ్లి ఆలస్యంగా వస్తున్నావు? ఏమిటి సంగతి?
ఏమీ లేదు ప్రభూ, ఉపగ్రహవాణి ద్వారా వచ్చే రేడియో స్పందనలో ప్రియరాగాలు అనే కార్యక్రమంలో వేసే చిత్రసంగీతాన్ని విని వస్తూండటం వల్ల కాస్త ఆలస్యం అవుతోంది ప్రభూ!
అదేమీ వాణి? ఆకాశవాణి విన్నాము కానీ ఈ ఉపగ్రహ వాణి ఏమిటి?
ఎవరైనా ఎక్కడైనా సంగీతం, వార్తలు వినేటట్లు ఈ మానవులు ఉపగ్రహం ద్వారా ప్రసారం చేస్తున్న కార్యక్రమాలు ప్రభూ!
అయితే చిత్రగుప్తా, వారితో మాట్లాడి మన యమలోకంలో కూడా వినబడేటట్లు యమరాగాలు అనే ప్రోగ్రాము తయారు చేద్దాం. శిక్షలు అనుభవించే వారు ఈ యమరాగాలు వింటూ కాస్త ఆనందంగా వుంటారు కదా! అలాగే ఈ ప్రోగ్రాము చేయడానికి మనలో ఎవరున్నారో కాస్త చూడు.
అదేమీ కష్టం కాదు ప్రభూ, గోరంత విషయాన్ని కొండంతగా, పీచు మిఠాయిని సాగదీసినట్లు ఏదో విషయాన్ని మాట్లాడే టాలెంటు వుంటే చాలు. మధ్య మధ్య కాస్త చిత్రసంగీతం వేస్తే చాలు. పాటల చిట్టా వుండును. దానిని చూసి ఏదో పాట వేసేస్తే సరిపోతుంది.
చిత్రగుప్తా, నువ్వు చెప్పేది నమ్మశక్యం కావడం లేదు. వారికి కాస్త ట్రెయినింగు ఇచ్చినచో బాగుండును కదా?
సరే ప్రభూ, మన ఆడ భటులలో ఓ ఇద్దరిని లక్ష్మీ శరత్ , ప్రతిభ ల దగ్గరికీ పంపిస్తాను.

వారా ప్రభూ? ఇంతకు ముందు రేడియో స్పందనలో తెలుగు భాషను చిత్రవధ చేస్తూ శ్రోతలను నానా విధముగా హింసించిన అనుభవజ్ఞులు. వీరిద్దరిలో ఒకరికి అవార్డు కూడా ఇచ్చారు ప్రభూ!
అయితే సరే చిత్రగుప్తా! వెంటనే ఏర్పాటు చేసేయ్. మన యమరాగాలు ఎంత తొందరగా వీలయితే అంత తొందరగా వినాలనుంది!

సుస్వరాల సుష్మ గారూ!
ఈ రోజు 'రక్త సంబంధం' సినిమా గురించి మాట్లాడుతూ రామారావు ఫోటో గురించి most copied photo అని ఏదేదో మాట్లాడారు. అన్నా చెల్లెళ్ళ అనుబంధానికి ప్రతీకగా చలనచిత్రసీమలో నిలచిపోయిన చరిత్ర - రక్తసంబంధం. ఆ సినిమా పేరు చెప్పగానే అందరికీ గుర్తు వచ్చేది ఆ కథే! ఆ పాటే! ఎంతో వుదాత్తంగా ప్రస్తావించాల్సిన అన్నాచెల్లెళ్ళ అనుబంధాన్ని వదిలేసి, ఇంకేం మాట్లాడినా పేలవంగా వుంటుంది. ఒక మంచి పాట వేసేటప్పుడు, ఒక మంచి వుపోద్ఘాతం ఎంతో అవసరం కదా! ఏమంటారు?

రేడియో స్పందన - పాత వుత్తరాలు (25.07.05)

పాడిన పాటే పాడరా! పాచి పండ్ల దాసరీ! అన్న చందాన రోజూ అవే పాటలు వేసి వేసి శ్రోతలను బాధ పెడుతున్న ఘనత రేడియో స్పందనకే దక్కుతుంది. వేళాపాళా లేకుండా ప్రొద్దున్నే మిడ్నైట్ మసాలా సాంగ్ పెట్టే విచక్షణా జ్ఞానం కూడా చాలా గొప్పదే! (ఆదివారం 24.07.05 ప్రొద్దున ఏడు గంటలకు ఆ అంటే అమలాపురం .... పాట వేసారు.) నిన్ననే కదండీ జావళి అంటూ 'పిలచిన బిగువటరా' పాట వేసారు. ఇవాళ మళ్ళీ మృణాలిని గారు కూడా 'భావవీచికలు' లో అదే పాట వేసారు. యాదృచ్చికం అని సరిపెట్టుకోమంటారా!
ఇంకో విషయం, సాయంత్రం పూట మ్యూజికల్ షికారు అంటూ ఏకంగా నాలుగు గంటల పాటు మా కర్ణభేరులను నలగగొట్టడం మీకు భావ్యమేనా? కావాలంటే ఓ గంట పాటు ఆ నందు గారిని మమ్మల్ని చిత్రవధ చేసి ఆనందించుకోమనండి.
బస్సు దిగేవాళ్ళను దిగనివ్వకుండా బస్సులోకి ఎక్కే వాళ్ళలా పాట పూర్తిగా అయిపోక ముందే స్పందనా...స్పందనా అని దూసుకు రావాలా? కాస్త ఆగి రాకూడదా?

I&B Ministry grants 3 years to World Space for new licensing

Popular satellite radio service provider World Space India has sought five-year time to migrate into the new licensing regime once it is finalized.

World Space, in a official communiqué to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, said that the company would divest 26 per cent equity in favour of Indian equity investors, within a five-year timeframe. This will be in consonance with the new licensing regime proposed by the government.

However, the government has offered World Space India, a three-year deadline to migrate into the new licensing regime. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of World Space Asia based in Singapore.

At present, World Space provides 34 radio channels in India that include BBC World and London-based WRN news channels. The government foresees entry of topnotch foreign players into the virgin satellite radio services market once the licensing regime being considered by union cabinet is put in place.

World Space was launched with the intention of providing digital satellite radio primarily in the emerging markets of Asia and Africa. The radio services are provided on a subscription basis and the radio services are uninterrupted because it has no spots. The only source of income is subscriptions.

Already, US-based Sirius XM Radio, the largest satellite radio player internationally, has evinced keen interest in making a foray into Indian satellite radio market. Sirius that has operations in North America, Canada and Alaska had acquired XM in July 2008.

The satellite radio networks will allow subscribers access to programmes relayed worldwide via fixed, portable or vehicular radio sets. Opening up satellite radio to new domestic and foreign players will widen choice of programmes already the subscribers have through AM & FM radio broadcast of All India Radio (AIR).

As per draft cabinet note circulated by Information and Broadcasting Ministry, the 74 per cent FDI cap will be set for Satellite radio operators, on par with those on other platform services like teleports and Direct to Home (DTH).

The bidding for licenses to enter the satellite radio space may be held once the current Lok Sabha elections are completed, an official said on condition of anonymity. The government also foresees a chunk of FM radio broadcasters offering satellite services, as most of the licence norms would be similar between the two.

FM radio service providers cover 35.50 per cent population and a geographical area of 24.41 per cent. About 245 FM channels are operational in the country across 87 cities. As per policy formulation under consideration, FM services may be extended to another 210 cities.

In the backdrop of making huge money of around Rs.3,000/-crores from private FM Radio operators in the form of entry fee and also 4% of revenue generated, the government is planning to make WorldSpace satellite radio also pay an entry fee and also a share in the subscription fee colleted from WS Radio listeners. From the financial point of view, it is logical to make WS to pay for utilising Indian sky and customers of India . But from the technological point of view, the following points should be understood before making any move by the government.
1. For the past six years,the WS satellite technology has been workingfine. The quality of sound is so fine that. you would mistake it for aCD.2. From a dozen channels in 2001, the WS has developed over 40channels for different genres of music, news & information .3. It would touch the hearts of many. Say, a Madrasi living in Assamor a Bengali in Kerala can enjoy his music in WorldSpace . Even thesoldiers in the Himalayan borders and sailors in bay of Bengal and Arabian sea are also enjoying the music from WS.4.Even All India Radio is using WS satellite for its transmission in Northeast region and Africa . Such is the power of these WS satellites. 5. It is a known truth that WorldSpace is still bleeding and still pumping funds to establish itself as viable commercial venture. 6. The Indian government should consider the technical options ofutilizing the WS satellites for its programmes in education ,healthcare and communication needs in high seas and mountain ranges.It should value the services of WS for these purposes and consider itas an income. 7. In commercial terms , the government can ask Railways, Telecom andNational High ways authorities to use WS for FM repeaters for their
allow private FM operators to go for more areas by networking through WS satellite . The revenue generated can be shared by government of India .

Satellite radio service may become dearer Ashish Sinha / New Delhi June 22, 2007 Satellite radio service may get costlier for consumers once WorldSpace, the only satellite radio company in the country, is asked to pay licence fee as well as share up to 20 per cent of its annual revenue with the government. These proposals, among others, are part of an overall satellite radio policy draft, currently being considered by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B). In the absence of any policy on satellite radio, WorldSpace does not pay licence fees or shares revenue with the government. According to sources, the draft satellite radio policy includes imposition of a one-time entry fee for satellite operators, up to 20 per cent revenue-sharing arrangement with the government, a 26 per cent cap on foreign direct investments for broadcasting news and current affairs. This move is seen by industry observers as a step from the government to boost the expansion of the private FM radio network. The broadcast of news and current affairs is still not allowed on private FM radio. Even the radio forum of industry body Ficci has asked for the I&B ministry to promote private FM radio over satellite radio. In its recommendations, Ficci Radio Forum has asked the I&B Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunshi for imposing a 4 per cent revenue sharing arrangement on subscriptions and 20 per cent share in its advertising revenue, annually. While an FM radio station works only in the range of 70-100 kilometres, a satellite radio service can be received on special radio sets direct via satellite, anywhere. WorldSpace radio has about 60,000 subscribers from its 10-city operation. Consumers can obtain the service by paying for the satellite radio sets (costs between Rs 1,800 and Rs 3,000) and subscription fees (Rs 1,700 per year). In contrast, FM radio sets come as low as Rs 50-100. The FM radio companies have to pay a licence fee and share 4 per cent of their annual revenue with the government. For the second phase expansion of private FM radio, the government collected Rs 907 crore in licence fee for 266 frequencies. The government is also considering disallowing WorldSpace the use of repeater network. A repeater network transforms a satellite radio service to a primarily terrestrial service fed from satellites, thereby competing with FM radio stations.
